Lost or Damaged Equipment
If equipment is either lost or damaged, there is a $350 fee to the responsible customer.
The $350 fee is applicable for the following systems:
- Classic Guardian
- Mobile Guardian
- Home Guardian
- Premium Guardian
If you are an Alert911 or fall detection pendant user and either item is lost or damaged, you are responsible for a $150 fee.
How it Works
Medical Guardian medical alert systems operate much like most standard units. The goal is for the overall process to be simple and straightforward to account for the high stress and chaos that can often accompany emergency situations.
Users can wear their pendant in whichever way is most comfortable. The pendant can be worn as a necklace, on the wrist, or can be attached to the belt. Because the pendant is waterproof, it can accompany the user into the shower, which is important because the bathroom is where many falls and injuries occur. .
In any emergency, just press the button on the pendant and you will connect to an emergency operator within moments. You will be able to communicate through your pendant. The trained medical alert operator on the other end will assess the situation, access your file, and determine the best course of action to assist as quickly as possible.
If you are unable to communicate with the responder, they will dispatch medical personnel immediately.
For additional convenience, these systems can travel with you as long as there is a place to connect the base station to the wall. Whether you are on vacation or visiting family, you can travel with confidence anywhere in the United States.
Monitoring Services
The company’s Medical Monitoring system meets the highest standards as it is certified by CSAA Five Diamond, UL, FM and the Department of Defense. Each of the companies operators are 911/EMT trained and are available 24/7, 365 days a year.
Operators have the ability to dispatch the local police and fire departments should you need them and can also contact the family members, friends or neighbors that you designate when you order your medical alert system. There is the flexibility to contact whoever is most appropriate for a given situation or emergency.
If you are unable to respond during an emergency, the company will immediately dispatch emergency services to your home and will have the ability to give the responders access by using the information you provide.
Range
Each of the medical alert systems have a designated range. The Classic Guardian system, which is a landline system that plugs into the wall, features a 1,300 ft range which is the best in its class.
The Home Guardian is a cellular system and has a range of 600 ft. from its base station.
The Mobile Guardian is a bit different because it is completely portable and designed to be taken with you where you go but the help button must be within 350 ft. of the small base to connect to the help center.
The Premium Guardian does not have a designated range because it does not have a base station. It runs on a nationwide cellular network, so its range extends to wherever you have a cellular signal.
Battery Life
Both the Classic Guardian and Home Guardian units have base stations which connect to the wall and run on electricity. Each of these models also features a battery backup to keep the unit functioning should you lose power. The Classic Guardian features a 32-hour battery backup which the Home Guardian battery backup lasts for 30 hours.
The Mobile and Premium Guardian units are both portable/mobile units which need to be charged. The Mobile Guardian battery lasts 24 hours when fully charged and has a 2-hour charging cycle and the Premium Guardian lasts 36 hours on a full charge which takes about 4 hours.
Phone Line Compatibility Options
The most reliable, and most common connection method still tends to be the landline. Customers who have a working landline in their homes are encouraged to connect this way since service interruptions or issues are least likely to occur.
Customers who no longer carry a landline in their homes can opt for a cellular option. Medical Guardian utilizes an independent wireless connection rather than recognizable carrier such as AT&T. However, they do specify nationwide coverage, which makes this a viable option for prospective customers in all 50 U.S. states.
VoIP and DSL customers should contact the company directly to find out if their provider will be compatible with their alert system, as the company does not specify on their site.
Installation Process
The installation and activation process is quite simple. When you purchase an alert system from the company, you provide the necessary contact information to them, and the company will ship you your product. Once you receive it, all you need to do is connect it and turn it on, and it is ready to use.
Customer Service
The business is very helpful and offers a couple of ways to get assistance. You can call to speak with their client services in person on the phone, but you can also live chat with a representative through their website.
They also feature a troubleshooting section which is designed to help assist you with any technical issue you may have with your medical alert system. The website allows you to send an e-mail which you will get a response to within 24 hours.
Feedback
This company has received a perfect grade of A+ from the Better Business Bureau and have been a BBB accredited business since June of 2009.
As of July 2017, they have had 51 complaints closed with the Better Business Bureau in the last three years, and 23 closed within the last 12 months.
24 complaints were resolved to the satisfaction of the customer, while 27 of them entailed the customer either not accepting the company response or not reporting the results back to the BBB.
Most of the problems raised stemmed from billing and collection issues.
Though the complaint log seems large, it only covers a very small percentage of their overall client base, which is why the company has been able to maintain their A+ rating.
